The Aesthete
Very
early, passion for aestheticism wakes up a talent for critic
and art historian in Jules Destrée.
There are three key moments in a life fed by the love of
beautiful things :
- " Les Primitifs italiens
de Sienne, d'Ombrie et des Marches " (1899-1903).
A re-reading of the great italian masters.
Followed by studies on Odilon Redon, Henry De Groux, and Constantin
Meunier
- " L'exposition de 1911 ". For the first
time, Jules Destrée joins an artistic exhibition to
an industrial and commercial event. 4,000 visitors discover
the wealth of patrimonium in Wallonia. Next to the Salon for
Ancien Art, contemporary artists are shown among which one
young artist is revealed to the public : Pierre
Paulus
- " Roger de la Pasture
". The end of a search, witness of his battle for Walloon
art, followed by a study on the Master of Flémalle.
