Glass production in Cologne can be traced back to the beginning of the period after the birth of Christ. The glass objects are prolific and varied, natural green in colour or green-blue, or artificially coloured in yellow, amber, cobalt blue or manganese purple.
We see in these objects the skills of hot application of glass threads, cutting, engraving and sculpting.

Other production centres such as Bonn and Nijmegen have been identified in Rhineland regions.
